Scottish Architects Papers Preservation Project

Applications are invited to join a new team which is being
established within the Royal Commission on the Ancient and
Historical Monuments of Scotland <URL:http://www.rcahms.gov.uk/> to
catalogue and conserve collections of architects papers for the
National Monuments Record of Scotland in a project supported by the
Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland and sponsored by the
Heritage Lottery Fund. RCAHMS is a public body which compiles and
maintains the national collections of architectural and
archaeological archives of Scotland in the NMRS.  RCAHMS provides a
challenging and stimulating working environment, committed to public
accessibility and service.  The posts required are as follows:

    Project Manager
        salary range UKP14,973 - UKP25,641
    Conservator (part time)
        salary range UKP12,973 - UKP21,917 pro rata
    Assistant Conservator
        salary range UKP  9,880 - UKP14,000
    Cataloguers (4 posts)
        salary range UKP12,973 - UKP21,917

This will be a three year project with appointments contracted for
one year, renewable annually for its duration. Starting salary will
depend on qualifications and experience and will be performance
related. RCAHMS is an equal opportunities employer and operates a

should have a degree in Architectural History, Fine Art, Archives
Management, Conservation or related disciplines, preferably with 1st
or upper 2nd class honours or additional relevant experience.
Communication skills are essential, both orally and in writing,
keyboard skills and some familiarity with information technology is
advantageous.
