Casein overpainting

I am looking for any help in removing of casein overpaintings. The
painting I conserve actually was overpainted several times. The
thick layer of green colour covers  entirely a very interesting a
100 years old decoration executed in the fresco secco technique
(pigments with lime milk). I made a lot of desperate trying,
without any satisfied results.
