ISO Standard for bookbinding

From: Larsen Poul Steen <psl>
Date: Wednesday, June 9, 1999
By the end of this year we expect the publication from (ISO Central
Secretariat, Geneva Switzerland) of:

ISO 14416 Information and documentation--Requirements for
binding of books, periodicals, serials and other paper documents
for archive and library use - Methods and materials. 23 pages.

This International Standard can be ordered through your national
standardization organization in either English or French version.

ISO 14416 specifies minimal requirements to materials and practises
for book binding with a view to long-term (permanent) keeping and
heavy use. It consists of a materials and practises section, and a
decision check list section with backwards reference to preferred
materials and practises.

This international standard has been prepared by a working group (WG
4) of binding experts and archivists from 20 countries under the
auspices of ISO Technical Committee 46: Information and
documentation, Subcommittee 10: Physical keeping of documents.
(Secretariat: Danish Standards). Further information may be had from
