Subject: RFP: Conservation of outdoor sculpture
Proposals sought for 1999-2000 Maintenance of Sited Public Artworks, The City of Seattle Arts Commission The Seattle Arts Commission is seeking proposals for the major maintenance of its permanently-sited artworks. Proposals are sought from US consultants for a variety of services including but not limited to repairs, structural repairs, repatination and/or painting of metal sculpture, repairs, cleaning and/or sealing of stone sculpture, murals, and wood sculpture and graffiti removal from works in all media. Conservators and/or maintenance consultants are invited to submit proposals on all of the maintenance work available. Contracts will be awarded on the basis of conservator's and sub-consultants' qualifications, references, past work, method, schedule (consultants must be able to commence work beginning in June, 1999 and complete the work required by October 31, 2000) and cost. The specifics and weighting of the evaluation criteria are outlined in the RFP. The City of Seattle will determine which maintenance efforts to award on the basis of proposals received. As part of the conservation contract conservators will be required to submit, prior to commencing work, a maintenance proposal for each artwork specified and to prepare a written conservator's treatment report after treatment describing the work performed and recommending specific regular maintenance requirements and the approximate cost to provide such maintenance for each of the artworks they have conserved/repaired. Consultants will have to meet the City's insurance requirements and will have to provide adequate safety protection for its workers and the general public during the performance of the contract. The approximate value of the contract will be: $60,000.00. Similar work on additional artworks may be added to the contract and the contract amended for any such work. A description of each artwork to be maintained is available in the RFP. The selection of the consultant is subject to Seattle Municipal Code Chapter 20.44, pertaining to prevention of discrimination in City contracts and Chapter 5.44, pertaining to license requirements.
