Subject: Storing parasols
The University of Alberta's Costume and Textile Collection recently completed an interesting storage project on their parasol collection. Coreplast boxes were individually made for each parasol. The handle and end point of the parasols were generally supported in the box either by a shelf or twill tape so that they could "stand up" and the fabric of the parasol was left partially open and stuffed out with acid free tissue paper. Mylar windows, with coreplast covers were made so that the contents of the box could be viewed without disturbing the contents. It was a very good solution to the parasol storage problem.
