May 20-21, 1999
Minneapolis Institute of Arts
Minneapolis MN
Presented by the Upper Midwest Conservation Association

Integrated pest management is a strategic approach to pest control
in collecting institutions such as museums, historical societies,
libraries, and archives. The approach relies primarily on
non-chemical means to prevent and manage insect infestation.

This advanced workshop will be conducted by two well-known IPM
specialists, Tom Strang of the Canadian Conservation Institute and
Wendy Jessup, IPM consultant and conservator in private practice.

This workshop will benefit anyone who is responsible for the care of
collections: registrars, directors, curators, librarians,
archivists, conservators, and facilities managers.

Workshop registration: $120 for members of UMCA, $145 for
non-members. Fee includes demonstrations, a notebook of
informational materials, lunches, and a reception. The deadline
is May 13. For more information and a brochure, contact Alisa
Vignalo, Coordinator, UMCA, 2400 3rd Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN
55404; 612-870-3128; e-mail <umca [at] mtn__org>. Detailed
information and a registration form are located at

This workshop is funded by the Institute of Museum and Library
