Non-yellowing casting resins

From: Virginia Naude <vnaude>

For a 19th century marble sculpture owned by a museum I am preparing
to cast some small missing parts. I am looking for a resin to which
I plan to add aggregate and pigment. I am interested in my
colleagues current thoughts about suitable products. Non-yellowing
casting resin has been an occasional topic at brain-storming
sessions among object conservators at AIC meetings. Hxtal was found
to be satisfactory but very expensive and unreliable batch to batch.
Has any one had recent bad experience with Hxtal? I will appreciate
suggestions of other casting resins to test, particularly those you
have used, whose working properties you like and for which no
yellowing has been observed after five or more years.
