Subject: Microcrystalline wax
I am working as a metal conservator, mainly in conservation of archaeological metals. I have been using microcrystalline wax as a protective coating on treated metals. In order to a condition of individual artefacts, sometimes I use a container to put artefacts in hot melted wax and sometimes I use hot air to apply a coating layer of wax on the artefacts. The reason I bring this subject up is that I would like to hear your experiences and to discuss, for example, about a best temperature for the best results and how you applying it and why?, etc. I am also interested in any tips for books and articles about this subject. *** Conservation DistList Instance 12:78 Distributed: Friday, April 2, 1999 Message Id: cdl-12-78-008 ***Received on Thursday, 1 April, 1999
