American Antiquarian Society

The American Antiquarian Society is seeking a conservator to assist
the chief book and paper conservator in the care of the library's
collections.

The book conservator performs a variety of tasks related to the
preservation and conservation of printed books, early American
bindings, manuscripts, and other paper artifacts from the 17th
through 19th centuries. Treatments range from the fabrication of
simple enclosures and the rehousing of materials, to complex
conservation procedures. Qualifications: Four years of training and
practical experience, and the knowledge of current conservation
practices is expected; bookbinding benchwork experience is
essential.

Salary depends upon experience and qualifications; benefits and 20
days of vacation. Review of applicants will begin April 19, but
applications will be accepted until the position is filled. The
American Antiquarian Society is the nation's oldest national
historical society and houses the world's premier collection of
early American imprints. It is located in Worcester, Mass., which is
