Subject: Ozone generators
Lydia Egunnike inquires about the installation of ozone generators in ductwork--a recommendation by her HVAC engineers to deal with an on-going mold problem in the ducts. Although I'm not familiar with Australian issues, the last time I checked the recommendation for ozone levels offered by the Library of Congress here in the States was about 0.94 ppb--less than the levels proposed. But more importantly, I would suggest that the issue of high RH (which is likely the cause of the mold in the first place) be dealt with. Get rid of the conditions promoting the mold and the odds are good that you get rid of the mold (albeit you may need to either clean the duct work or perhaps even replace some portions if you internal duct liners).
