Subject: Radioactive graphite bricks
I was recently contacted by Argonne National Laboratory in regards to their beginning the process of funding the preservation of artifacts from the first nuclear reaction under the grandstands at University of Chicago back in the 40's. While they were looking for advice on the funding aspect, at least at this point, it started me thinking who in the world has had any experience with graphite bricks, which is what the chamber was made of, or the preservation of this type of materials since some of them are still "hot"??
