Moving large paintings

A client of mine (who is not on the list) is in the process of
designing a new storage area.  They would like to include a small
lift so that they can move large paintings from the basement
(storage) to the curatorial space (one level up).  They are very
short on space so the lift needs to take up as little space as
possible.  I am wondering if anyone on this list has a dealt with
this issue before or has a lift that they can recommend.  Of course,
they would also like the lift to be inexpensive.
