Chicago Area Conservation Group March Meeting Robie House 5757 S. Woodlawn Ave Chicago, IL 60637 Monday, March 22-1999 6:00 PM The Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio Foundation has entered into an agreement with the University of Chicago to restore, operate, and preserve the Robie House as a publicly accessible museum site. They have just completed the Master Plan for Restoration and Adaptive Use of the Robie House after two years of research and study. This plan is currently being reviewed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the University of Chicago, their partners in this project. Cheryl Bachand, Curator of Collections of the Foundation's two sites--Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio in Oak Park, and Robie House in Hyde Park. Responsible for exhibits, collections management, research, acquisitions, management of the Foundation's research center and preservation of objects. Karen Sweeney, Restoration Architect. Karen is a licensed, registered architect who has worked at the Foundation for over ten years. She was hired to work on the restoration of the Oak Park Home and Studio and is in charge of the restoration of the Robie House. Karen is responsible for the Foundation's two historic buildings and their sites. There will be a modest charge of $5.00 per person to cover the cost of refreshments. The proceeds will go towards the continuing effort in the preservation of Robie House. Directions to Robie House: Take Lake Shore Drive south to Hyde Park - exit at the 53rd street exit. Drive west on 53rd street until you reach Woodlawn Ave., (there will be a stoplight, and a shopping plaza on your right). Take a left (south) on Woodlawn, and continue until you reach 58th street. The Robie House is on the corner of 58th and Woodlawn, parking is on the street.
