I am doing research on the ways museums control relative humidity in object cases, in larger diorama size cases and in the galleries themselves. Specifically, I have come across some research from the early 1990s looking at using different kinds of chemical compounds (in crystalline form) instead of silica gel. I am wondering whether anyone regularly uses compounds other than silica to control relative humidity? Any help would be appreciated, Margaret Bullock Portland Art Museum Curatorial department *** Conservation DistList Instance 12:71 Distributed: Wednesday, March 3, 1999 Message Id: cdl-12-71-018 ***Received on Thursday, 25 February, 1999
