Problems and Solutions - an examination of ceramics and glass in
relation to composite objects
UKIC Ceramics and Glass Section Conference

United Kingdom Institutes of Conservation Ceramics and Glass
Conservation Group (UKIC-CGCG)  is holding its Spring 1999 weekend
conference at West Dean College in Chichester, West Sussex, United
Kingdom on 23 - 25 April 1999. The conference starts at 5pm on Fri
23 April and closes at 4pm on Sun 25 April.

Papers will be presented by speakers from the public and the private
sector and post prints will be free to conference attendees.  There
will also be demonstrations and trade stands selling books and
equipment.

Papers will include:  A case study on the conservation of a mixed
media object of enamel stone and metal, the restoration and
conservation of glass panels from a pair of armchairs, conservation
of an 18th century pier glass mirror from Hampton Court Palace,
treatment of reverse gilt and painted glass panel from a within an
18th century straw box, conservation of artefacts for the funerary
gallery at the British Museum, and conservation problems associated
with Limoge enamels and champleve.  Demonstrations will include: the
use of a variety of clamps in the conservation of ceramic and glass
objects and laser cleaning by a laser scientist from the
conservation centre of the National Museums and Galleries on
Merseyside.
