April 19 and 20, 1999, Minneapolis, MN May 11 and 12, 1999, Des Moines, IA June 22 and 23, 1999, Madison, WI July 12 and 13, 1999, Bismarck, ND July 19 and 20, 1999, Rapid City, SD The Upper Midwest Conservation Association presents two workshops on two consecutive days at five different venues. The first day, "Care of Library and Archival Materials," will cover the basic causes of deterioration of library and archival materials and how to prevent and retard deterioration. Emphasis will be on low-cost measures available to most institutions. The second day, "Preservation Planning for Museums, Historical Societies, Libraries, and Archives," we will discuss the concept and benefits of planning for the preservation of collections, emphasizing self-study and implementation.
