New list: frameconnews

Stephen Todd, is starting a moderated conservation and framing
mailing list. It will be open to the global community, but with an
emphasis on the UK.

Anyone interested in joining the list when it starts, should send an
e-mail to frameconnews-subscribe [at] egroups__com. Your name will then be
added to the list, and full details of how to use the list forwarded
to you. The list will be circulated in digest form and will be
moderated to eliminate spam and blatant advertising. You may also
may also email Stephen.Todd [at] btinternet__com with the word
'frameconnews' as the SUBJECT and 'subscribe' in the message body,
omitting the quotes.

Stephen Todd with help from Sheila Fairbrass, organised several
seminars in the UK last year aimed at defining standards for
describing the various grades of mount board (mat board). These were
well attended by manufacturers, organizations such as the IPC and
practitioners from both sides of the Atlantic, from both paper
conservation and framing disciplines.

The mission of the news group is to create a separate forum for
picture framers to discuss conservation issues and to seek advice
from other framers, paper conservators etc. and to create a better
understanding between conservators and framers.
