The Maitrise de Sciences et Techniques de Conservation des Biens
Culturels', Paris I Pantheon - Sorbonne University organizes a
second workshop:

    From East to West: Japanese Conservation Techniques--Western
    Prints and Drawings
    June 28th - July 9th 1999

Aims : Develop for western paper conservators the japanese
conservation techniques adapted to their own needs Workshop
designated for paper conservators.

Trainers: two conservators of oriental paintings and one conservator
of western prints and drawings

Working languages : English and French
Number of participants :10 to 12

The course is definitely practical. Syllabus includes : presentation
of tools and materials, paper cutting and paper sheets assembling,
lining techniques of small size and oversize items, use of karibari,
reinforcement and lost filling techniques, bamboo tool making and a
one day conference and visit of a Japanese paintings collection.
