Subject: Cyclododecane
The most promising way to get detailed information about cyclododecane is to contact Dr. Erhard Jagers and Dr. Elisabeth Jagers who brought up the so-called volatile binding media for conservation purposes in 1995 (together with the freelance conservator Hans Hangleiter). In the meantime, the materials have been tested with a wide variety of applications in conservation, e.g. for temporary consolidation, temporary protective coating or water repellent, and with almost all kinds of artworks. The material evaporates without leaving any residue. Concerning stained glass it was successfully used as a protective coating for the lead and for other sensitive areas during cleaning treatment.
