Silver

In National gallery of Slovenia, we are preparing a comprehensive
exhibition of church objects. At the moment we are facing the
problem we do not have any idea more how to solve. All metal objects
are made of silver and gold. To prevent tarnishing silver after
cleaning, we apply a thin coat of lacquer Frigilene or Bedacryl 122
or Paraloid B72. The problem is that an intense rainbow appears
after lacquering. We try to change the technique of applying the
lacquer by brushing, by dipping or spraying. We change the type of
lacquer and the concentration of the lacquer solution, but without
success to avoid the rainbow appearance. The all same story repeats
by the gold. Have anybody got the same problem and what was the
possible solution? We are anxiously waiting for any suggestions.
