Subject: Source for collagen
For conservators interested in preparing their own parchment size from raw materials of known origin, I have some quantities of scraps from my manufacturing consisting of: (a) fine shavings (b) shrivelled edge trimmings These have both been used successfully for making size by artists, as well as the furniture conservators at CCI. Quantities are limited, but are replenished regularly as more skins are prepared. Interested parties can contact me at cav [at] storm__ca I have considered preparing size from these materials myself, and drying the congealed size, making it available in the form of dried "leaves". Would size/collagen in this form be useful to conservators?
