Deterioration of submarine metal objects

There is a substantial literature dealing with corrosion influenced
or accelerated or caused by bacterial action. It can be very severe.
A good general reference is Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion
Edited by Gregory Korbin and published by NACE in 1993 (ISBN
1-877914-56-8).

However, the" bugs on the Titanic" debate surfaced on the CORROS-L
list in April and the general trend was that the claim of severe
attack at depth due to bugs was rather over the top.
