Publication on paintings conservation

From: Archetype Books <archetype<-a>
Date: Monday, November 24, 1997
Archetype is pleased to announce the republication of "Manual on the
Conservation of Paintings." This is a 1997 unaltered reprint of the
1940 edition which was published by International Museums Office
(the forerunner of ICOM). This book is expected to be useful to all
painting conservators since it details the theories and methods
employed by paintings conservators in the first half of the 20th
century.

The original edition's foreword indicates that the many authors
wished to remain anonymous in order to retain a spirit of
international cooperation and to make clear the joint responsibility
of all for the opinions expressed. However, it is known that the
editorial committee which compiled the book included such eminent
persons as Baud-Bovy, Constable, Ganz, Goulinat, Laurie, Maroger,
Plenderleith, Ruhemann, Stout and de Wild.
