Steamer trunk

I am a Museum Studies student from George Washington University. I
am researching a steamer trunk from around the turn of the century.
I am wondering if anyone has information about these from a
conservation standpoint. I am trying to figure out what dyes and
adhesives were used on the stickers on the outside as well as the
types of metal and the consequences of painted canvas on the
outside. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you,
