Subject: Rolled copper bead
**** Moderator's comments: This query comes from a person who is not on the DistList and will not see any responses that are posted here. Please respond directly to sender and if of general interest post it here as well I am looking for information on the best conservation method for a rolled copper bead from a Contact Period Native American shell midden. The bead is flat sheet copper that has been rolled into a tubular "bead." It is in good shape with normal green patina. It is currently being stored in a small sealed canister with soil in it. As an employee of a Cultural Resource Management firm, I am looking for the best way to ensure the bead's survival. How should it be handled, stored and "cleaned"? Nothing will be done to it until proper procedures are researched. Your help appreciated. *** Conservation DistList Instance 11:40 Distributed: Tuesday, October 28, 1997 Message Id: cdl-11-40-018 ***Received on Friday, 10 October, 1997
