Removing of pressure sensitive tape from photograph

What is the recommended technique for removal of pressure sensitive
tape from the emulsion surface of a photographic print.  The print
dates from the first decade of this century.  I have a heat tool
which is routinely used for removal of tape from paper.  Would this
same approach be used for photographic surfaces?
