Subject: Mold viability following treatment in vacuum chamber
We recently had wet and moldy county records, which were dried in a vacuum chamber. The chamber pressure was around 10mm of mercury. The chamber operator thinks that mold, including mold spores, would be killed at that low pressure. This seems reasonable to me, but does anyone have experience? Has anyone tried to culture mold off of records, right after the materials came out of a vacuum chamber?
