Collections Care Technicians
Shelburne Museum

The Shelburne Museum is seeking applicants for Collections Care
Technicians. Responsibilities include hands-on routine collections
care duties; such as cleaning and inspecting artifacts and vacuuming
behind barriers in exhibit buildings, artifact handling, and storage
maintenance and improvements. Technicians will also assist in the
conservation lab. During the summer season, April-October, the
position requires three days cleaning, one day with artifact
movement and storage, and one day in the conservation lab. During
the winter season, November-March, more time will be spent on object
treatment, handling and storage and less time cleaning in collection
buildings. These positions are specially designed to provide
practical preventive conservation experience working with artifacts.
Such experience is beneficial when applying to art conservation
graduate training programs or other museum studies programs. These
full-time positions are limited to a term of three years with
possible renewal. Salary is $16,640/year plus benefits. Candidates
should have a bachelor's degree or equivalent and experience in
handling works of art. For additional information and application
