Its main purpose is to contribute to the conservation and restoration of the historic heritage and help to be known. The organization of national and international meetings is one of its main activities. Its aim is to encourage the research on the preservation of the Spanish and World Heritage and set the guidelines for future actions. All this will lead to obtain a more real relationship between society and heritage having into account the economical development. With all the above in mind the Foundation is organising a Working Meeting with the participation of a group of very well known professionals in the conservation field. There,.the problems of the preservation of the historic heritage will be analyzed and will be discussed its role as a factor for development in the next century. Aim of the Meeting Spain, after Italy, has the richest historic heritage in the world. Centuries of history have left us numerous monuments and objects that now need preservation, some of them very urgently. As a consequence of the problems associated with their conservation through time, we have a long tradition in this field. Conservation has been always present in our history, but its practice has been very uneven. Relatively recently the different regional governments have taken the task of preserving their own heritage and that has given a very positive results. In the case of Castilla y Leon, this region has used its historic heritage as an economic factor. Its conservation and restoration has played a major role. However, these independent efforts have led to a situation that impedes to reach a comprehensive view, the accumulated experience is now disintegrating. The aim of this meeting is to advance in the establishment of a set of criteria that could be globally accepted. Lookimg into the 21st century we need a framework that will lead us through a more effective efforts.
