Subject: Water purification
We are planning renovations in the Paper Conservation Lab at the Yale Center for British Art, including installing a new water purification system. We are looking at a system where the water will first pass through a deionizing canister, a sediment filter cartridge, and then go through a calcium carbonate "neutralizing" filter. The filter is made with treatment grade calcium carbonate. If you have a system of this sort, please pass along your comments. Do you love it? Do you wish you had chosen something else? Are there maintenance problems? How long have you had it? What grade calcium carbonate do you use?
