Digital Imaging: Preservation Issues
University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY
Tuesday, November 11, 1997

The increase in digital imaging projects for library and archival
collections raises many issues related to selection, resource
allocation, and long-term access (preservation). This day-long
workshop provides an introduction to the technology of digital
imaging and addresses the following questions: What collections or
resources are appropriate for digital conversion? How will digital
files be maintained? Who is responsible for ensuring future access
to this digital information? Is future access necessary? Through
lecture, discussion and case studies participants will gain the
tools needed to make informed decision about imaging project
planning.

Instructor: Faye Phillips, Assistant Dean of Libraries for Special
Collections, Louisiana State University.

Cost is $85 SOLINET members ($75 early bird, $110 late
registration); $125 Non-SOLINET & FEDLINK ($115 early bird, $150
late registration). Any institution in Kentucky qualifies for the
SOLINET member rate.
