Subject: AIC Annual Meeting
We are Going to Burn the House Down...and There's Still Time to Join in Planning is well underway for the 26th Annual Meeting for The American Institute for Conservation: Disaster Preparedness, Response and Recovery to be held June 1-7, 1998 in Arlington, Virginia. Do you know how you would respond when called upon in a disaster? What would you do if a client asked you what to do with a wet, burnt work of art covered with sewage? What if a whole collection was flooded? Where would you start? What do you do when the Fire Department, Red Cross, FEMA, or the Department of Defense are on the scene? What are the ins-and-outs of dealing with Insurance Companies? Don't Wait for Disaster to Strike Before You Contribute Your Ideas. The abstract submission deadline for the Response session has passed and the submissions have been outstanding. There is still time to participate. You can contribute your ideas, experiences, and suggestions by submitting an abstract before October 7, 1998 to any of the Specialty Group Chairs. If you are unsure about presenting a formal paper consider the more visual and less formal opportunities for posters, tabletop demonstrations, and discussion groups and workshops.
