Photocopy toner

In a recent discussion with an artist who uses the copy machine (I
hesitate to say Xerox) at times during creation of works and who
also uses the toner directly, the question of the durability of the
toner itself came up. Does anyone know what this/these material(s)
is/are? Is there reason to question how toner used as pigment will
perform under varying RH and temperature? Any information or sources
of information would be most appreciated.
