Determining whether books are out of print

Re Harold Holland's inquiry about ascertaining what books are in
print, I have just recently started using Amazon.com,
<URL:http://www.amazon.com/> which has become, I believe, the
biggest bookseller around.  Once you get the hang of it, looking up
books is very quick.  The listings indicate which books are not in
print, and, perhaps, even more importantly, what their availability
is.  Their notes on how long they expect it to take to find a copy
of out-of-print books has so far proven very accurate, at least for
what I have been looking for.
