Subject: Sources for materials
Howard Wellman asks which industries use various materials that are also used by conservators. The following may be helpful: PEG: Various grades are used extensively in cosmetics, as a basis for creams etc. EDTA, Calgon: Common ingredients in detergents and other washing products, water softeners etc. BTA: Was originally used by the metal industry to inhibit corrosion of new copper products. Could try metal foundries and suppliers.
