I think a safe answer would be "yes" given the research of Vincent
Daniels (1984;1986) and that by Slavin and Hanlan (1992) in
Restaurator, 13 as well as Wendy Smith's experiments (1985) in the
Bulletin ICCM Australia v. 11 n.s 1 & 2.
