Book Collections Maintenance & Repair Workshop Sept 22-26 1997 Instructor: Gary Frost NEH Scholarships Available There are still openings for this five day resident workshop at the stress-free Campbell Center in provincial Mt. Carroll Illinois. The course is intended for library staff who have the actual day to day responsibility for the repair of damaged volumes in circulating collections. The course is based on the Collection Maintenance Repair workshops developed by the AMIGOS Preservation Service in Austin Texas. The instructor is from the Preservation/Conservation Studies program at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the UT in Austin. The course will include (1) identification and selection of items for repair, (2) protective enclosures, (3) paper mending techniques and materials, (4) paperback reinforcement, (5) repair of publishers' cloth bindings, (6) production goals.
