The Western Association for Art Conservation (WAAC) welcomes you to
attend a special session on rock art conservation during WAAC's 1997
Annual Meeting. This session offers an expert overview of the most
important issues in the conservation of rock art and will give you a
deeper understanding the challenges facing those involved in its
preservation, restoration, and analysis.

The speakers include some of the most experienced and committed
specialists in the western U.S., and their presentations will
reflect not only their own work but their years of involvement with
others in this field. Scheduled presenters include:

    Todd Bostwick
    Gerald Dawaventewa
    Claire Dean
    Ron Dorn
    Marietta Wetherill Eaton (Marietta Davenport)
    John Griswold
    Nicholas Stanley-Price

For the special rate of 30 dollars, you may register exclusively for
the rock art conservation presentations (instead of for the entire
3-day WAAC Annual Meeting). This special registration category
includes:

    *   The opportunity to join a field trip to view petroglyphs in
        the Phoenix area on Sunday afternoon, October 26th (you will
        need to supply your own vehicle).

    *   An informal reception on Sunday evening, October 26th, at
        Arizona State University's Deer Valley Rock Art Center,
        including a tour of the Hedgpeth Hills Petroglyph Site.

    *   Presentations on rock art conservation on Monday, October
        27th, in the auditorium of the Heard Museum.

    *   A wine-and-cheese reception at the Heard Museum, Monday
        evening, October 27th.
