Associate Chief, Preservation Treatment New York Public Library As a member of The New York Public Library's Preservation Division and under the direction of the Division Chief, responsible for the administration of the Preservation Treatment program for The Research Libraries including general and reading room materials; rare book and special collections; special format collections. Working closely with both the Division Chief and the Associate Chief, Preservation Reformatting, direct the operation of our conservation treatment facilities, participate in analysis of current preservation treatment programs, short and long range planning, and program implementation. Select, train and evaluate staff. Serve as liaison with the public service divisions throughout The Research Libraries, donors and appropriate professional meetings. To qualify, candidates must possess an ALA accredited MLS and certification and/or training and experience in conservation treatment. Minimum of five years experience in administration including substantial experience in the administration of a conservation lab/preservation program in a university, library or archive. Demonstrated experience with short and long range planning, staff management and budget preparation. Broad knowledge of conservation and preservation technologies, preservation cost factors and productivity issues. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
