Cadmium pigments and paint deterioration

In connection with one of its research themes, the MolArt project in
the Netherlands is trying to locate examples in paintings of
pigment-specific deterioration that appears connected with the use
of cadmium yellow and red pigments. We are interested in examples
especially from before 1940.  A particular focus is the possibility
of enhanced degradation of paint binders (chalking) by cadmium
pigments, blanching, loss of colour, or other colour changes, drying
defects etc.

Also, samples of well-documented, early preparations of cadmium
pigments or paints (in particular from Levebre-Foinet) are being
sought for analysis. If you can help with either of these enquiries,
