Magnesium bicarbonate

I have heard that it is possible to make deacidification solution
with Magnesium Bicarbonate.  Does anyone out there have any
experience using this method?  I understand that Carbon Dioxide is
introduced using soda cartridges.  My question concerns the
resulting degree of saturation- are one or 2 cartridges sufficient?
I also wonder whether or not you could also successfully make the
solution in 1:1 ethanol/h20 using this method.  Any comment or
suggestions will be helpful
