**** Moderator's comments: Please respond directly to the author The Redwood Library and Athenaeum's offer of 50 free copies of "To Preserve Hidden Treasures: From the Scrapbooks of Charles Bird King" (Conservation DistList Instance: 11:2, June 20, 1997) drew many responses from this list. We're grateful for the time many of you took in your requests to explain the particular preservation challenges you face. We received requests from as far afield as Hawaii, Denmark, and England. The exhibition catalog, published with the assistance of the Rhode Island Committee for the Humanities, presents 19th century artist Charles Bird King's scrapbooks, focusing on the need for their conservation as it addresses the wider concerns of archival conservation and its significance to the preservation of man's cultural heritage. A world-wide-web version of the catalog is under construction at Redwood's web site <URL:http://www.redwood1747.or>). We have only four more free copies left; additional copies are available at a cost of $7.50 plus $2.50 postage & handling, from: Redwood Library and Athenaeum 50 Bellevue Avenue Newport, RI 02840 401-847-0275 Fax: 401-841-5680 Marilyn Curtis Director, Library Functions *** Conservation DistList Instance 11:10 Distributed: Friday, July 18, 1997 Message Id: cdl-11-10-016 ***Received on Wednesday, 16 July, 1997
