With the assistance of the Rhode Island Committee for the
Humanities, we have just published a forty-page exhibition catalog
entitled: "To Preserve Hidden Treasures: From the Scrapbooks of
Charles Bird King," which was on view at our Library May 19th -
August 25, 1996. Our presentation of 19th century artist Charles
Bird King's scrapbooks, which contain a unique collection of rare
etchings, engravings, mezzotints, and drawings, focuses on the need
for their conservation as it addresses the wider concerns of
archival conservation and its significance to the preservation of
man's cultural heritage. A world-wide-web version of the catalog is
under construction at Redwood's web site
<URL:http://www.redwood1747.org>.

We have 50 copies that we would like to send, at no cost, to
libraries and special collections that have an interest in historic
preservation.
