Call For Presentations
Conference Theme -"Bridging Traditions"

The organizers of RESTORATION invite qualified professionals to
submit proposals for technical presentations relating to the
theories, techniques, and technologies specific to the current-day
practice of restoration, renovation, and maintenance of older,
historic and traditionally-built structures as well as to the
re-creation of period design. Especially sought are presentations
emphasizing international, regional and maritime issues, new
techniques, and practical knowledge. In accordance with this year's
conference theme, "Bridging Traditions," presentation topics should
highlight connections between the centuries or between cultures.

RESTORATION is the largest commercial trade exhibition and
conference for professionals active in the preservation, maintenance
and re-creation of traditional buildings, period design and craft.
Since 1993, successful events have been held in Boston, San
Francisco, Baltimore, Chicago and Atlanta. Responding to strong
market demand, RESTORATION will return to Boston and its roots with
an event at the World Trade Center located on Boston's historic
waterfront.

The RESTORATION audience includes professionals, tradespeople and
artisans from the fields of architecture, interior design,
construction, engineering, landscape design, conservation,
facilities and museum management, as well as knowledgeable owners of
historic properties. On average 80 people attend each conference
session. Overall attendance typically runs between six and ten
thousand visitors per event. Continuing education unit (CEU) credits
are provided by the American Institute of Architects, American
Society of Interior Designers and the International Interior Design
Association. In addition to the support of numerous national,
regional and local organizations, over 325,000 brochures will be
direct-mailed to attendees prospects.

Sessions are 1-1/2 hour in duration and typically feature two
speakers. Most presentations will be grouped according to the themes
listed below. However presentations can cover any topic related to
theories, techniques, and technologies and a balance of topics is
sought. The thematic grouping are:

    * Facilities Management (profitability, cost effective
        technology, systems and maintenance)

    * Engineering (practices, structural, materials, innovations,
    value)

    * Design (exterior, interior, lighting, accessibility,
        furnishings, urban, landscape, garden)

    * Health, Safety and Welfare (as defined by the AIA/Continuing
        Education System)

    * Resource Types (public, institutional, commercial,
        religious, residential, landscapes, gardens)

    * Contractors' Corner (including tools, craftsmanship,
        techniques, and worksite issues)

    * Materials and Media (evaluation, use, repair, substitutes)

Proposals should include speaker's name, affiliation, contact
information, and resume with professional qualifications, as well as
a detailed description of the presentation's content and format.
