Adhesives for bookplates

The question of using "peel-and-stick" bookplates for the
circulating collection has come up locally, and I am wondering if
there has been any change in products since Ellen McCrady's posting
of 22 August 1992, in which she advised, "Don't use peel & stick
bookplates" and went on to cite the numerous problems they create
(oozing and staining among others). Thanks in advance for any
information you can provide,
