Pollutants in museums

From: Pamela Hatchfield <phatchfield<-a>

Thanks to having received one of the Kress Conservation Publications
Fellowships from AIC this year, I have the opportunity to write a
practical guide on the mitigation of effects of pollutants on museum
objects. The publication will include information about the
environments in which objects can be damaged by pollutants and the
primary agents and sources of damage. It will provide strategies for
assessing potential for damage and will offer practical solutions
geared towards minimizing the sources and deleterious effects of
pollutants in the museum environment. The publication is intended
for a broad audience including curators, designers, architects,
collections care professionals and collectors, in addition to
conservators.

I hope to include detailed information on specific products and
materials commonly used in museums today, and would gratefully
appreciate receiving suggestions and/or information from distlist
subscribers on particular problems/issues/products that they would
like to see covered in such a publication.
