Foam for lifting

I'm interested in gathering up some information on expanding foams
used for lifting fragile objects, particularly alternatives to
polyurethane foams commonly used for archaeological blocklifts. This
information will be relayed to Connie Stromberg (in Quito), who is
exploring the possibility of using foams in the removal of fragile
burned architectural elements (in combination with barrier layers and
exterior framing). She is particularly concerned about the heat
evolved during setting. Does anyone have information on the
temperatures reached? What about acrylic foams, or other
non-heat-evolving products? Thanks for your help.
