CCI did more than an "informal" evaluation of metal polishes.  For a
very practical article about the testing and results, see
"Evaluation of Silver-Cleaning Products" by Lyndsie Selwyn and
Charles Costain, in the Journal of the International Institute for
Conservation--Canadian Group (IIC-CG), vol. 16, 1991.  It is my
understanding that CCI no longer recommends Nev'r Dull, which the
tests proved to be extremely abrasive.
