Subject: Moving and renovation
We will be embarking on a major renovation to our HVAC system in the near future. It is still unclear whether materials will be moved or sheltered. I have limited input as to the timetable (which keeps changing) but in anticipation of any and all possibilities, I am interested in information on: 1. Preparations for moving archives materials we are talking roughly 100,000 cubic feet of mostly boxed paper based records (yes, that is the correct number of zeros) distributed over 17 vault floors. The renovation will be phased. 2. Cleaning storage areas a. preferred industrial strength vacuums b. types of cloths for wiping shelving (e.g. electrostatic, cotton rags) c. cleaning solutions 3. I am particularly interested in approach and methodology by way of written procedures. Information on the possibilities of linking reappraisal to moving and housekeeping are also desirable.
