White gloves

From: Margaret Almon <almon<-a>

Regarding the discussion about the usefulness of cotton gloves in
handling metal objects, the suggestion was made to use latex
fingertips. I would advise extreme caution in the use of latex,
because some people have severe allergies to latex. Symptoms can
include asthma like wheezing, rashes, bleeding skin, and even death
in some cases. This is a serious issue in health care settings
because of the prevalence of latex, and I would imagine could be a
problem in the conservation world as well.
